MINISTRIES OF THE HEART

An Opportunity to Live Our Faith

God’s gift of unconditional love and grace comes to us freely.  All we have to do is accept.  We, in turn, express our faith by how we choose to live our lives… and how we share God’s grace with others.  Those we help receive a glimpse of the power of God’s love.   Our faith journey is enriched and becomes a deeper encounter with God through our shared grace.

On May 22nd, our Lynnewood congregation will be extended the opportunity to share God’s love

for all people.  The invitation will be to participate in Ministries of the Heart, a time of personal outreach.

Young and old.  Individuals, friends and families.  All may join in engaging with the world around us.

Consider the possibilities.  What needs of other people weigh on your heart?  What longings to help

do you have?  What bothers you the most…hunger, homelessness, the challenges of the disabled,

children in poverty, disadvantaged youth, the needs of seniors?

The invitation will be simply, that you do a personal outreach of your choosing, anytime over

the summer of 2005.  Easy enough, but an act of kindness that will help change our world.  Come

and hear more on Sunday,  May 22nd.   As Jesus well demonstrated, the opportunity is to live a life

of passion, of compassion, of kindness, of love…of grace.

Text Box: In The Face of AIDS

Until he died at the age of twelve,
Nikosi Johnson was the longest surviving
child with AIDS in South Africa.

    From improvised KwaZulu-Natal,
Nikosi was already dying when he was
born. Yet somehow, he summoned the
strength to fight on…a diminutive beacon
of hope.

    Nikosi became a tireless spokesman
for the rights and needs of AIDS victims.
He also offered this challenge…

“ Do all you can do, with what you
have, in the time you have, in the place
you are.”

- From the book, “We are All the Same”
