Outstanding Service Award presented by the Fresno Area Association of Mental

In
Diana’s words:
“I consider
Dallas
my childhood home, and my mother and brother and sister and their families
still live in Texas. Fresno has been my home
for the past 23 years. Team sports were my passion throughout my growing up
and young adult years. I was a tomboy, and I continued to compete seriously
in soccer until about 12 years ago when I tore my ACL after colliding with
an opponent going for a high header. Today I'm an avid fan of the Tour De
France and hope one day to travel to France to see it in person.
“I travelled to Cuba in 2000 as
a part of a United Methodist Deacon Caravan, which had also been a dream of
mine.
“I have been in relationship
with Grady Knowles for almost 4 years, and we look forward to sharing life
together as my son, Jonas, heads for UCSB in the fall of 2009. Among my
countless wonderful memories of life with my son is the time about 5 years
ago when I accompanied him to Warner Brothers Studios for his appearance in
an episode of the television series "Without A Trace". Jonas was an acting
teacher with HOTT MODEL Talent Agency, and he was an Explorer with the
Fresno County Sheriff Department.
“It was the Director of
Children's Ministries, Madele Hares, at Spring Valley United Methodist
Church in Dallas Texas, who inspired me with her boundless energy, huge
laugh, uncanny knack for making something from nothing and her silkworm
collection, to consider ministry with children as more than a summertime
venture I invested in as a 15 year old. From
Vacation
Church School
helper, to camp counselor, to part-time youth director, to Minister of
Education and Program, to Diaconal Minister, to ordained Deacon, I continue
to grow with and into my call to ministry. I look forward to all that we
will share as companions in ministry at Lynnewood.”
