Children's Sunday School

During the 9:00 hour, infants through kindergarteners are welcome in our fully-staffed Kids Korner in the Education Building, where children will hear Bible stories, share in activities, and create crafts in a caring environment that helps them know they are welcome at church and a precious part of our church family. Parents of elementary aged children are invited to approach an usher for simple activity pages for their children to use while remaining in the service.

During the 10:30 hour, Sunday School is offered for all children and youth. Following the Children’s Moment on that morning, children and youth will meet their Sunday School teachers at the back of the sanctuary and be escorted to their classrooms in the Education Building.

  • Infants, toddlers, and 2-year-olds meet in the Kids Korner.

  • 3-year-olds through kindergarten meet in room C-8.

  • 1st grade through 2nd grade meet in the old youth room.

  • 3rd grade through 5th grade meet in room C-5.

  • Middle schoolers meet in the Fellowship Hall.

  • Senior High youth meet in Suite "C" youth room following the Passing of the Peace.

It is most important that all parents register their children (infant - 12th grade). Please feel free to contact the office with any questions.

Joyful Noise Choir

All children age 4 through 2nd grade are invited to join the Joyful Noise Choir.  Rehearsals are on Sundays after the second service, from 11:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., in room C-5 in the Education building.  The purpose of this choir is to introduce children to the fun of singing and to prepare them for the Sonshine Choir and other music programs at Lynnewood.  Contact Raeanne P. or the office for more information. Note: Joyful Noise Choir does not meet during the summer.

Sonshine Choir

Open to all children in grades 3-8, the Sonshine Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings in the choir room immediately after the second worship service (from 11:40 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.). No musical experience is needed. The children have fun singing and using instruments to prepare to sing in worship several times a year. The more children we have, the more challenging the music we can do. Contact Heather Wells or the office for more information. Note: Sonshine Choir does not meet during the summer.

Our Children's Sunday School is Soon To Be Published!

The pre-school through elementary aged children of our Sunday School, with the help of Jonathan H. and Sarah S., have created a book about collecting funds for Heifer Project and choosing animals to buy to help sustain families around the world. The book will be available for purchase through the StoryJumper website within the next month. Watch for details through the Sunday School.

14 Coins for 14 Centimeters

For many years the junior and senior high youth of our church have participated in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine. They have gone hungry for 30 hours while they raise money to fight childhood hunger throughout the world.

This year for the first time, the children of our Sunday School will join in this important effort. “14 Coins For 14 Centimeters” is the name of the offering project which will begin on January 8 and continue through the month of February. In their Sunday School classes, each child will receive a container with an invitation to put 14 coins into it every week and to bring it to Sunday School with them. It doesn’t matter if the coins are pennies, nickels, dimes or quarters because it’s the number “14” that is significant. 14 centimeters is the distance that must be measured around an infant’s forearm which indicates that the baby is healthy. The children of the Sunday School will each receive a measuring band so that they can measure 14 centimeters. All of the coins collected will be combined with the funds collected by the youth during their 30 Hour Famine, and sent to World Vision. Thank you for your support of this giving project which will make the difference in the lives of so many children.

Lynnewood’s 2nd Annual Drip and Drench Festival Was a Real Soaker!

On Saturday, July 23rd, 2011, seventy plus children, youth, and adults enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers, a bounce house, and lots of water activities that left everyone refreshed and exhausted! There were shooting water rockets and gutter boat races. There was watermelon seed spitting, wet sponge throwing, and fun in the wading pool for the youngest. The evening culminated in water balloon throwing for all! Thank you to the Children's Council for their planning and preparation and for all of their family members who were recruited to help. Special thanks to Erik J. and his crew who barbequed a summertime fare to perfection. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the fun.  Click here to see pictures of the 2011 Drip and Drench.
