Children's Church

On Sundays when the Sonshine Choir sings, Lynnewood offers an exciting worship opportunity for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. Young children are invited to attend the 9:00am worship service in the sanctuary with their parents and come forward at Children’s Moments, about 15 minutes into the service.  On Sonshine Choir Sundays, three year olds through 3rd graders will then go to the Children’s Church in the Fellowship Hall for a bible lesson, interactive activities, and crafts. Children’s Church ends at the same time as the worship service.

Children's Sunday School

We are called to teach our children the stories of our faith so that they may grow in their faith through the understanding of Jesus Christ in a safe, loving, and joyful environment. Coinciding with the school year, Lynnewood United Methodist Church offers a Sunday School at 10:30am.

It is most important that all parents register their infant(s) (birth-to-3 yrs old), child(ren) (grades K-6th) and youth (grades 7th-12th). Please feel free to contact the office with any questions.

Preschool Children

Three, four and five year-old children are introduced to the Biblical faith in an age-appropriate preschool class.  This class is an introduction to Bible stories through play, music, and story telling.  Children attend the 10:30am service, participate in Children's Moment, then leave for Sunday School.  Our preschool class meets in Room C-8 in the Education Building.

Elementary School-age Children

Instead of the usual classes by grade levels, there are two groups of students: one group for K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders and one for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.  Sunday School begins after Children's Moments in the 10:30am service.

The LIVE BIG broadly graded United Methodist curriculum forms the basis of our Sunday School program for children and is augmented by monthly hands-on video and science activities which reinforce study themes.

We look forward to your children joining us in a warm, welcoming environment.  Classrooms are located at the back of the education building, which is across the courtyard from our sanctuary.

Vacation Bible School 2010

Children, youth and adults all have a role to play in this year’s joint Vacation Bible School experience with St. Claire’s Episcopal Church. Children who are 3 years old though those who have completed 5th grade are invited to participate in “Finding Nemo: A Journey Through God’s Love” from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday of the week of July 5th. Middle school youth, high schoolers, and adults are heartily welcomed as assistants or teachers. Please see Diana for more information and for registration forms.  The cost is $50 for the week if paid by June 19, and $75 afterwards.
